Casey and Sophie at Sunrise

See Our Llamas for instructions on how to obtain a high resolution copy of this picture.

Casey was the first llama to arrive on our farm. Her daughter, Sophie, was born five months later. Sophie is two years old in this picture. The following year Casey gave birth to Easy Wynn. On May 27, 2001, Casey gave birth to Misty. Casey and her offspring are light-wooled llamas. Their fiber can be harvested by brushing their coats with a pin brush. They are not shorn in the spring like our medium and heavy-wooled llamas. Jeanne will frequently go out to harvest some fiber by brushing out their coats. She will then put the fiber through our carder and then spin it. A light coat is also an advantage when you go packing with your llamas.
